Is EZdrummer 3 worth the price?
Is it even useful for you as a developing guitarist?
My short answer is "YES" to both of those questions.
Even though there are other great alternatives to EZdrummer 3 like GetGood Drums or Addictive Drums 2, for me nothing beats the ease of use and usefulness of the Toontrack's product line.
I agree that Toontrack's products can become quite expensive when you want to own the whole enchilada!
But let's be honest - guitar and music in general isn't the cheapest hobby anyways, agree?
Okay, okay... let's continue with the EZdrummer 3 software and why I wholeheartedly recommend to any serious hobbyist or pro.

Why I recommend EZ products? Because, if you are generally struggling to create drums for your composed music, then EZdrummer 3 is right for you!
EZdrummer is not only easy and simple to use but it is also a very powerful software in general.
It is loaded with different useful features which you won't find anywhere else - with other competing drum softwares.
Let's now talk about pros and cons.
Pros and Cons of EZDrummer 3
I will admit honestly - EZdrummer 3 isn't amongst the cheapest drum programming softwares on the internet.
But then again, are the any softwares so loaded with cool and useful features?
Pros:
User-friendly interface: There's nothing complex about EZdrummer's user interface. Both complete beginners and also seasoned drummers will appreciate the design.
Diverse customization options: There's the drum set, the Grooves tab, Grid Editor, Mixer and Bandmate tab. Additionally, you can change anything you want - the kick, snare, hi-hats, etc. There are presets and you can edit everything and save as your own presets.
High-quality sounds: EZdrummer 3 sound libraries are top-notch quality-wise. MIDI is as good as it can be.
DAW connectivity: Ableton Live, Reaper, Logic, Cubase, Studio One or most of the popular DAWs can be paired with EZdrummer 3 VST.
MIDI: You can buy different MIDI packs for usage in EZdrummer 3.
EZX sound expansions: You can also buy EZX sound expansions if you want a different sound from the drums.
Toontrack Product Manager: It is easy to download everything and authorize right there without big hassles.
Cons:
EZX and MIDI can quickly become very expensive: If you don't exactly know what sound you want, buying every EZX sound expansion out there can become super-expensive. MIDI packs are also not so cheap.
CPU load: If you don't have a decent new PC or Mac, you could run into speed problems.
Some features are not as easy to learn: If you are a complete drum programming beginner, it could turn out to be quite difficult to program drums from scratch or use use the Grid Editor.
To Sum It Up
If you want a true workhorse loaded with useful features which is simple and easy to use, then you have found it.
EZdrummer 3 is right for any guitarist or musician who needs drums for their compositions or whatever they need.
I didn't mention but, of course, if you have browsed the EZX catalog for a while, you immediatelly see that there are drums for diverse range of genres.
You've got you basic kits, your jazz kits, your hip-hop, gospel, metal, rock, pop, blues, you name it. Everyone can find something for themselves.
And, also, don't be discouraged when I mention the steep price for the whole catalog of EZX's and MIDI's.
You don't need to fork out money for everything. Choose and pick the essential stuff for your taste and leave out anything else.
I agree that paying 1000's of USD for a virtual drum software isn't quite right. But if you approach everything with caution, then you will be OK!
